About Us

Steve & Debbie Moak founded notMYkid in 1999 after watching family and friends struggle with children's substance abuse. They decided to use their resources to focus on drug abuse awareness and prevention as a way of helping other families through this nationwide problem.

After extensive study, notMYkid National (formerly Project 7th Grade) evolved as a way of giving parents and young people a tool in the fight against drug abuse. Building on the “trust but verify” theme, notMYkid National provides parents with information, education and a tool not available even 5 years ago.

In 2004, to facilitate a nationwide rollout, notMYkid National secured a $1 million committment from First Check Diagnostics, LLC, as a way of providing free home drug test kits to parents of middle school aged children nationwide.

In 2006, notMYkid National presented 65 programs across 37 states to a total of over 4000 parents.

in 2007, notMYkid National reached its goal of being in all 50 states!
